Explore his diverse portfolio and let him help you create timeless memories that you can cherish forever.
Creative Photography
I love creative photography and the process of planning an image and the story I want to tell. Can you think of something in your business that needs an eye catching image like these?
Wildlife Knowledge and Understanding
I’ve loved and studied wildlife all my life so it’s no surprise that, being a New Forest Photographer, wildlife photography is a major part of my work. My understanding of the animals and the empathy I have combined with artistic flare results in exceptional images. I enjoy passing on my knowledge to photographers who are keen to learn and I provide individual tuition or small workshops. Next year I am planning 2 workshops called “The Art of Nature Photography” where I aim to give delegate ideas to lift their wildlife photography above the technical and into the artistic. More information can be found here.
Great Portraits
I love meeting and talking to people and I love portrait work. It’s the interaction with the client that gives me ideas of how to say something about them and their lives. It doesn’t matter if it’s a simple family portrait, a professional portfolio portrait or something a bit different, I get great pleasure in creating their images. Some of my portraits have helped people gain work or have given people new confidence and others have become Christmas presents for granny or a Social Media Profile picture and this for me are the best compliments. If you would like some professional photographs of you or the family please take a look at my Portrait Page.
Your Animal Friends and You
But our animals are part of the family too. Doesn’t matter if they are a cat, dog or horse they are dearly loved. Whether you choose to have a portrait of just your pet or if you want to be included too, I can give you a lasting memory to cherish. For my Equine photography please Look Here. How about something to decorate your Home?
I have a lovely collection of local landscapes and wildlife images that would look great on your wall. They can be finished as framed prints, canvasses on acrylic glass prints. You can choose your photograph and choose your size up to 3 metres long. Take a look in my galleries and find something you love.

Bearded Reedlings at Pennington Marshes
It’s not often I get to see these lovely birds but yesterday I got lucky. I woke before dawn and I could see in our trees that there was no wind. I admit that I wanted to go back to sleep but Joanne said I should go down the marshes because this was likely to be the best weather for the next couple of weeks. Then at the last minute I decided to try the Sea Wall Car Park end because I wanted to try for the Marsh Harriers. Yet again, no Marsh Harriers but the light was good and I stayed put. After a short while I spotted the male Bearded Reedling and fired off a few shots. It disappeared but I used the opportunity to position myself in a better place. Both the male and the female came back out within just a few metres from me and seemed very content and unbothered by my presence.
I love the blue head and moustache of the male but the female is very pretty with her soft pastel colours. I’m running “The Art of Nature Photography Workshop” in the spring and I would love to show the delegates the Bearded Reedlings because they can be lovely subjects but you need to know how to control depth of field to give them a lovely soft background. If you would like to develop your wildlife photography then please get in contact and I will see what I can do for you.
Baby Great Crested Grebes in January
These HUMBUGS have hatched very early with the first being reported on January 8th. Normally you wouldn’t expect to see them until mid April. I was even planning to go to see them as a venue when I am running my “ART OF NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP” in May. There’s a good chance there will be a second brood by then but there are other pairs of Great Crested Grebes resident so I expect more broods to be around at that time. In any case I have a packed schedule for the 3 day workshop with plenty of flexibility. After all nature works to it’s own calendar.
Photographing Architecture
Architecture photography is not my usual subject but that’s only because I live in the New Forest rather than a city. When I do go to the city, good architecture is something a really enjoy seeing and photographing what I see there is still basically the same as my other work. It’s all about light, composition, form and texture and this was enough for this photo to win the Kimber Coates Architecture themed competition at Southampton Camera Club yesterday.
When we visited Kristiansand recently we went to the Kunstsilo which translates as Art Silo. It is a huge old concrete grain silo in the old dock area and the conversion to the Art Gallery has embraced the brutal concrete structure it is housed in. The two staircases were superb and I probably spent more time photographing and looking at them than some of the exhibits. This photo for me was a really good photo in colour but I think the monochrome is better. Certainly the judge liked it.
The Yellow Jersey Rides into Bordeaux
“The Yellow Jersey Rides into Bordeaux”
Congratulations to Jonas Vingegaard and Team Jumbo-Visma.
Celebrate his win with a “Toast”. In this case a Glass of White Wine as he rides into Bordeaux on the 7th July 2023. I took this photo roadside in Bordeaux as the peloton approached the city towards the end of the 7th stage of the 2023 Tour De France.
Timed to perfection Jonas is right in the centre of the lens formed by the wine in the glass.
“The Yellow Jersey Rides into Bordeaux” is available as limited edition Acrylic Glass prints or Matt finish Dibonds in 3 different sizes and in Landscape or Portrait format.
